DIABOHILLS (DH) is a combination of 13 anti diabetic herbs. DIABOHILLS formulation is based on Ayurveda the traditional Indian system of natural medicine. Ayurveda is one of the oldest medical system in the world. The first known treatment for diabetes was done using the herb "Gurmar' meaning sugar killer. This herb is known botanicaly as Gymnema sylvestre. DIABOHILLS formulation is a combination of 13 unique herbs mentioned in Ayurveda and which have been proven scientifically for their anti diabetic effects.  While western medical system is very useful in treating infectious diseases and those requiring surgical intervention it is not effective in treating lifestyle diseases like diabetes, allergy, asthma etc. Ayurveda is an excellent means of treating lifestyle diseases like diabetes. Scientists and medical professional around the world are beginning to discover the benefits of the vedic medical system of Ayurveda. Ayurveda restores the balance in a person's composition by means of herbs and natural substances. This is the reason why there are absolutely no harmful side effects with ayurvedic medicines. This is unlike western medicines. For example Avandia and Actos were popular medicines used by millions in America and Europe till 2012. They are now banned as they were found to cause increasing number of heart attacks and bladder cancer. Many block buster prescription medicines used widely toady could get banned in future due to harmful serious side effects. Herbs based medicines particular the vedic system of Ayurveda and even traditional Chinese medical system are the best for life style diseases like diabetes. It might also be interesting to note that many of the modern medicines for treating many diseases have at some point derived from herbs and plant sources. For example Metformin (Glucophage) the most popular anti diabetic drug (often termed as first line of defense against diabetes) was derived from a plant called Galega officinalis it is a perennial herb with white, blue or purple flowers that grows over three feet high. It is native to middle east, India and Pakistan.

DIABOHILLS is Taken 30 minutes before major meals twice a day, It

  • Prevents the surge in sugar levels immediately after meals and keeps it well under control.
  • Regenerates insulin secreting cells in the pancreas and gradually make it secrete more insulin.
  • Enhances the natural insulin sensitivity and reduces insulin resistance.
  • Curtails the craving for sugar and carbohydrates in a natural manner. It can also assist in weight loss.
  • The individual herbs in DIABOHILLS are potent antioxidants and prevent any damage to the insulin generating cells of the pancreas.
DIABOHILLS will not be of any use to those with Type I diabetes.

The beneficial properties of individual herbs in DH are quite well known for ages. DH contains the extract - the active ingredient of the herbs to give you the maximum benefit. DIABOHILLS is a safe, natural and purely herbs based formulation. DIABOHILLS can be taken safely along with any other doctor prescribed medication. Very soon you might not be needing any doctor prescribed medication to manage your diabetes. The effects of DIABOHILLS are on a long term and permanent basis.

If you are in pre diabetes or borderline diabetes stage it is advisable to begin taking DIABOHILLS immediately. There is a very high possibility that with DH you may never develop full blown diabetes. If you are already diagnosed with full blown diabetes - DH herbal formulation could make the diabetic condition very mild so that chances of developing secondary complications are significantly less.

Herbs in DIABOHILLS
DIABOHILLS contains the following 13 power packed herbs with proven anti diabetic properties. Each of the herb's efficacy has been consistently proven and is backed by various research reports.

Momordica Charantia
Momordica charantia (also known as bitter melon ) a member of the Cucurbitaceae family is a tropical plant currently distributed across the globe. Contains insulin like protein termed as P-insulin also knows as Lectin. It mimics the medical insulin that is injected and reduces the sugar levels. The ether extract residue of the alcoholic concentrate from the leaves of Momordica charantia was reported to reveal hypoglycemic activity comparable to that of Tolbutamide (Tolbutamide stimulates the secretion of insulin by the pancreas). The pure protein termed as P-insulin ( polypeptide-P ) extracted from Momordica charantia fruits in crystalline form was tested, in a controlled clinical trial, for its efficacy as a hypoglycemic agent in 9 patients of Type 1 diabetes mellitus. The extract of Momordica charantia injected subcutaneously into type 1 diabetic patients had the same blood sugar lowering impact as that of insulin injection. Essentially the P-insulin ( polypeptide-P) acts on the pancreas, rejuvenates it and activates the dead insulin producing beta cells present in the islets in pancreas. Momordica charantia increases the healthy regeneration of beta cells in the pancreas hence increasing the secretion of insulin from the pancreas.

Aegle marmelos
Protects the insulin producing pancreatic cells from oxidative damage. Aegle marmelos Correa. (Bael) fruit exhibits antidiabetic, antihyperlipidaemic and antioxidant properties. This study was designed to elucidate the protective effect of an aqueous extract of Aegle marmelos fruits on the histopathology of the pancreas in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Oral administration of Aegle marmelos fruit extract at doses of 125 and 250 mg/kg twice daily to diabetic rats for a period of 30 days resulted in a significant increase the weight of the pancreas and insulin levels associated with a significant decrease in fasting blood glucose levels. The fruit extract treated groups showed improved functional state of the pancreatic beta-cells and partially reversed the damage caused by streptozotocin to the pancreatic islets. The findings of our study indicate that Aegle marmelos fruit extract exhibits protective effects on the pancreas. The effects observed in the fruit extract treated animals were better those in animals treated with glibenclamide

Curcuma longa
It is commonly known as Curcumin - Turmeric. It Has blood glucose lowering activity. It is also a powerful antioxidant. Curcuma longa has been used in Ayurveda - the Indian systems of medicine for a long time. Both the east and the west have held its medicinal properties in high regard. The plant is a native of southern Asia or China and is cultivated extensively throughout the warmer parts of the world. Diabetic nephropathy is a debilitating disease that leads to end-stage renal failure. Hyperglycemia is the initiating factor in several chronic diabetic complications which mediates increased oxidative stress and eventually the increased production of vasoactive factors and extracellular matrix proteins. Curcumin, a potent antioxidant, might be beneficial in preventing the development of diabetic nephropathy because this compound has been shown to inhibit p300, a histone acetyltransferase that plays a role in regulating gene expression through its interaction with the transcription factor nuclear factor-kB.

Emblica Officinale
Also known as Amla or Indian gooseberry. It Inhibits the production of Advanced Glycosylated End products (AGE) that damage the organs. It is AGE's that damage the nerve endings of retina, kidneys, feet etc. in diabetic patients. The antioxidant properties of amla extracts and their effects on the oxidative stress in streptozotocin-induced diabetes were examined in rats. Amla in the form of either the commercial enzymatic extract SunAmla (Taiyo Kagaku Co. Ltd., Yokkaichi, Japan) (20 or 40 mg/kg of body weight/day) or a polyphenol-rich fraction of ethyl acetate extract (10 or 20 mg/kg of body weight/day) was given orally for 20 days to the streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Amla extracts showed strong free radical scavenging activity. Amla also showed strong inhibition of the production of advanced glycosylated end products. The oral administration of amla extracts to the diabetic rats slightly improved body weight gain and also significantly alleviated various oxidative stress indices of the serum of the diabetic rats. The elevated serum levels of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, which is a glycosylated protein that is an indicator of oxidative stress, were significantly reduced dose dependently in the diabetic rats fed with Emblica extracts. Similarly, the serum level of creatinine, yet another oxidative stress parameter, was also reduced. Furthermore, thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances levels were significantly reduced with Emblica, indicating a reduction in lipid peroxidation. In addition, the decreased albumin levels in the diabetic rats were significantly improved with Emblica . It also significantly improved the serum adiponectin levels. These results form the scientific basis supporting the efficacy of amla for relieving the oxidative stress and improving glucose metabolism in diabetes.

Pterocarpus marsupium Roxb
This herb has pancreatic cell protective and regenerative properties as well as blood glucose lowering activity. Pterocarpus marsupium Roxb (from the family Leguminoceae) is a large tree that commonly grows in the central, western, and southern parts of Vietnam, Indonesia, India and Sri Lanka. Glucose levels in rats with hyperglycemia induced by streptozotocin were determined after administration of marsupsin (1), pterosupin (2), and pterostilbene (3), three important phenolic constituents of the heartwood of Pterocarpus marsupium. Marsupsin and pterostilbene significantly lowered the blood glucose level of hyperglycemic rats, and the effect was comparable to that of 1,1-dimethylbiguanide (metformin).

Enicostemma littorale Blume
Pills prepared from Enicostemma littorale were administered to 84 patients with type II diabetes for three months (Umesh et al., 2004). Estimation of various biochemical parameters showed that Enicostemma littorale reduced blood glucose as well as serum insulin levels and preventedthe progression of the long-term complications in diabetic patients.Significant improvement in kidney function, lipid profile and blood pressurewas observed suggesting that Enicostemma littorale is an effectiveantidiabetic herbal. The whole plant aqueous extract was tested for its hypoglycemic activityon normoglycemic, hyperglycemic and alloxan induced diabetic rats after administration via gastric intubation (Vijayvargia et al., 2000). In the case of diabetic rats, the fall of blood sugar after 30 days treatment with the aqueousextract was found to be significant. The decrease in the plasma glucose level was accompanied with a decrease in the level of glycosylated haemoglobinand of the G6Pase activity in liver.

Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a species of succulent plant that probably originated in northern Africa. The species is frequently cited as being used in herbal medicine since the beginning of the first century AD. Extracts from A. vera are widely used in the cosmetics and alternative medicine industries. The effect of Aloe vera juice in combination with glibenclamide was investigated in diabetic patients. There was no response to glibenclamide alone but Aloe vera juice significantly reduced levels of fasting blood glucose within two weeks and of triglycerides within four weeks. It showed no effect on cholesterol levels and had no toxic effects on kidney or liver function as assessed by blood chemistry. The results support the use of Aloe vera in the treatment of diabetes.

Ficus Glomerata
The glucose-lowering efficacy of a methanol extract of the stem bark of Ficus racemosa Linn. (MEBFR) (Family Moraceae) was evaluated both in normal and alloxan-induced diabetic rats. The MEBFR at the doses examined (200 and 400 mg/kg p.o.) exhibited significant hypoglycaemic activity in both experimental animal models when compared with the control group. The activity was also comparable to that of the effect produced by a standard antidiabetic agent, glibenclamide 10 mg/kg (Diabeta, Glynase, and Micronase in the United States and Daonil, Semi-Daonil, and Euglucon in the United Kingdom, and Delmide in India). The present investigation established pharmacological evidence to support the folklore claim that it is an antidiabetic agent.

Ficus Benghalensis
Researchers have used hot water extracts as well as ethanol extracts of different parts of Ficus plants to investigate the effects of controlling blood glucose levels. Ficus extracts appear to lower blood glucose levels in laboratory animals that are pre-diabetic as well as diabetic. Ficus extracts appear to stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin. In addition, Ficus extracts may stimulate the utilization of glucose by cells and peripheral tissues even in the absence of insulin. Ficus extract given to normal laboratory animals did not produce hypoglycemia.

Tinospora cordifolia
Tinospora cordifolia, which is known by the common name Guduchi, is an herbaceous vine of the family Menispermaceae indigenous to the tropical areas of India, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. The plant is a glabrous climbing shrub found throughout India, typically growing in deciduous and dry forests. The leaves are heart shaped. Oral administration of an aqueous T. cordifolia root extract (TCREt) (2.5 and 5.0 g/kg) for 6 weeks resulted in a decrease in the levels of plasma thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, ceruloplasmin and alpha-tocopherol in alloxan diabetic rats. The root extract also causes an increase in the levels of glutathione and vitamin C in alloxan diabetes. The root extract at a dose of 5.0 g/kg showed the highest effect. The effect of TCREt was more effective than glibenclamide (Diabeta, Glynase and Micronase in the United States and Daonil, Semi-Daonil and Euglucon)

Gymnema sylvestre
It is an herb native to the tropical forests of southern and central India and Sri Lanka. Chewing the leaves suppresses the sensation of sweet. This effect is attributed to the presence of the eponymously named gymnemic acids. G. sylvestre has been used in herbal medicine as a treatment for diabetes for nearly two millennia. A water-soluble extract of G. sylvestre caused reversible increases in intracellular calcium and insulin secretion in mouse and human beta-cells when used at a concentration (0.125 mg/ml) without compromising cell viability. This in vitro data suggests that extracts derived from Gymnema sylvestre may be useful as therapeutic agents for the stimulation of insulin secretion in individuals with type 2 diabetes. The rise in insulin levels may be due to regeneration of the cells in the pancreas. G. sylvestre can also help prevent adrenal hormones from stimulating the liver to produce glucose in mice, thereby reducing blood sugar levels. Clinical trials with diabetics in India have used 400 mg per day of water-soluble acidic fraction of the Gymnema leaves.

Syzygium cumini
Syzygium cumini is an evergreen tropical tree in the flowering plant family Myrtaceae. This tree is native to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Syzygium cumini (Myrtaceae) is widely used traditional system of medicine to treat diabetes in India. The present study was carried out to isolate and identify the putative antidiabetic compound from the S. cumini [SC] seed. A compound, mycaminose was isolated from SC seed extract. The isolated compound mycaminose (50 mg/kg) and ethyl acetate [EA] and methanol [ME] extracted compounds of S. cumini seed (200 and 400 mg/kg) was undertaken to evaluate the anti-diabetic activity against streptozotocin (STZ)- induced diabetic rates. The compound ‘Mycaminose’ and ethyl acetate and methanol extracted produced significant (p<0.05) reduction in blood glucose level. The standard drug, glibenclamide (1.25 mg/kg) also produced significant (p<0.05) reduction in blood glucose level against STZ-induced diabetic rats. The results of this experimental study indicate that isolated compound ‘Mycaminose’, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts possess anti-diabetic effects against STZ-induced diabetic rats. While Syzygium cumini has similar anti diabetic activity like glibenclamide (Diabeta, Glynase and Micronase in the United States and Daonil, Semi-Daonil and Euglucon ).it has other beneficial properties which glibenclamide does not have. Syzygium cumini is a powerful antioxidant and a free radical scavenger.

Complications of Diabetes
The excess glucose in the blood damages various organs and parts of our body. Most of the damages can be irreversible and severely curtail the quality of life. There is an instant surge in the blood sugar level immediately after meals. The level may come down after 2 hours but during these 2 hours some damage may have been done by the excess sugar. Glucose in the blood reacts with proteins in the body to produce compounds called Advanced Glycosylation End products, or AGEs. It is the AGEs that damage the various organs of our body. Never ignore high glucose levels even for a moment. It will show no symptoms but will cause severe and irreversible damage.

DIABOHILLS is taken 30 minutes before meals and it very effectively stop this surge in glucose levels immediately after the meals. If you have been diagnosed with diabetes but are able to maintain your glucose levels with diet and extra physical activity we still would advise DIABOHILLS as it will prevent the surge in glucose levels. In fact combining diet control and physical activity with DIABOHILLS can have far greater permanent benefits.

Frequently asked questions

1. I am already taking medicines for diabetes should I stop them?
NO. Please do not stop or alter any medicine that may be prescribed by your doctor. Once you start taking DIABOHILLS your doctor himself will reduce/stop any medicines or insulin intake after observing the progress..

2. Will DIABOHILLS interfere adversely with any other medicines?
NO. Diabohills will not interact adversely with any other medicines. The prescription medicines are mainly for short term control of sugar levels. DIABOHILLS is more for a fundamental change as well as for short term effect of reducing blood glucose levels immediately. With every dose of DIABOHILLS you will be gaining on a long term and permanent basis. It will gradually increase natural insulin secretion and boost your insulin sensitivity on a permanent basis.

3. I am already diagnosed with diabetes and if I continue to take DIABOHILLS  will I be cured of diabetes?
NO. If you are already diagnosed with diabetes taking DIABOHILLS will not cure or reverse your diabetes. But as you continue to take DIABOHILLS you will be able to achieve complete and tighter control of your blood sugar levels. Once you achieve control of your blood sugar levels you will be unlikely to face any secondary complications of diabetes like

  • Diabetic cardiomyopathy - damage to the heart muscle, leading to impaired relaxation and filling of the heart with blood (diastolic dysfunction) and eventually heart failure; this condition can occur independent of damage done to the blood vessels over time from high levels of blood glucose.
  • Diabetic nephropathy - damage to the kidney which can lead to chronic renal failure, eventually requiring dialysis. Diabetes mellitus is the most common cause of adult kidney failure worldwide.
  • Diabetic neuropathy - abnormal and decreased sensation, usually in a 'glove and stocking' distribution starting with the feet but potentially in other nerves, later often fingers and hands. When combined with damaged blood vessels this can lead to diabetic foot (see below). Other forms of diabetic neuropathy may present as mononeuritis or autonomic neuropathy. Diabetic amyotrophy is muscle weakness due to neuropathy.
  • Diabetic retinopathy - growth of friable and poor-quality new blood vessels in the retina as well as macular edema (swelling of the macula), which can lead to severe vision loss or blindness. Retinal damage (from microangiopathy) makes it the most common cause of blindness among non-elderly adults in the US.
  • Diabetic encephalopathy is the increased cognitive decline and risk of dementia- including (but not limited to) the Alzheimer's type- observed in diabetes. Various mechanisms are proposed, including alterations to the vascular supply of the brain and the interaction of insulin with the brain itself.
  • Coronary artery disease - leading to angina or myocardial infarction ("heart attack")
  • Diabetic myonecrosis ('muscle wasting')
  • Peripheral vascular disease - which contributes to intermittent claudication (exertion-related leg and foot pain) as well as diabetic foot.
  • Stroke (mainly the ischemic type)
  • Erectile dysfunction: It is been estimated that about 35%-75% of men with diabetes will experience at least some degree of erectile dysfunction -- also called ED or impotence -- during their lifetime. Men with diabetes tend to develop erectile dysfunction 10 to 15 years earlier than men without diabetes. As men with diabetes age, erectile dysfunction becomes even more common. Above the age of 50, the likelihood of having difficulties with an erection occurs in approximately 50%-60% of men with diabetes. Above age 70, there is about a 95% likelihood of having some difficulty with erectile function.
  • Diabetic Dermopathy. Dermopathy often looks like light brown, scaly patches. These patches may be oval or circular. Some people mistake them for age spots. Those with uncontrolled blood sugar levels are more prone to skin blisters, fungal infections, itching, scars etc.
4. I am not diagnosed with full blown diabetes but I am on pre-diabetes stage. Can DIABOHILLS help me?
Pre diabetic stage: In general, people who have a fasting plasma blood glucose in the 100-125 mg/dl range are defined as having "impaired fasting glucose". If your doctor gives you an oral glucose tolerance test, and at two-hours your blood glucose is 140-199 mg/dl, you have "impaired glucose tolerance".  Either of these is medical terminology for what your doctor is probably referring to when he says you have "pre-diabetes"

YES. In America alone as on 2014 June there are 80 million who are at pre-diabetic stage. They will develop full blown diabetes within a few years if no intervention is done. The burden that will be on the health care system will be humongous due the secondary complication. In pre-diabetes stage DIABOHILLS can be of immense help. It can reduce the chances of developing full blown diabetes significantly.

4. How is diabetes normally treated (managed)y doctors?
HbA1c Glycated Hemoglobin A1c are the levels based on which doctors manage the diabetes for their patients. HbA1c levels below 6% is considered non diabetic. (However to determine pre diabetic stage HbA1c levels may not be appropriate). Higher the HbA1c means higher level of free glucose in the blood over previous 6 weeks.

Targets for HbA1c are as follows:

  • For people without diabetes, the range of  HbA1c  is 20-41 mmol/mol  (4-5.9%).
  • For people with diabetes, an HbA1c level of 48 mmol/mol(6.5%) is considered good control, although numbers closer to non diabetics are preferred
  • For people at greater risk of hypoglycemia (lower than normal blood sugar), a target HbA1c of 59 mmol/mol (7.5%) is preferred to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.
  1. In case of an initial HbA1c < 7.5%, lifestyle modification might be sufficient to achieve the goal of 6.5%. This includes strict diet control and physical activity. If this fails, then mono therapy treatment using a single drug) is recommended. Metformin is the preferred agent first line of treatment.
  2. In case of an initial HbA1c between 7.6 and 9.0%, pharmacotherapy should be started with a dual approach. Monotherapy with a  single drug may not be sufficient to attain the goal of 6.5%. Because there are other underlying pathophysiology like insulin resistance plus advanced beta-cell failure plus inflammation plus lipotoxicity. This cannot be be managed with Metformin alone. In addition to metformin and GLP-1 agonists are recommended as first choice. Exenatide (Byetta/Bydureon), Liraglutide (Victoza), Lixisenatide (Lyxumia), Albiglutide (Tanzeum) are the types of GLP- 1 agonists. They basically work towards increasing insulin secretion in response to food consumption. They also suppress the pancreatic release of sugar which prevents hyperglycemia (high blood sugar levels). Another class of drugs known as Thiazolidinedione are also used simultaneously. These class of drugs reduce insulin resistance (thereby boosting insulin sensitivity) Rosiglitazone (Avandia), Pioglitazone (Actos), Troglitazone (Rezulin) are the drugs belonging to the Thiazolidinedione(TZD) group. TZD's are however fraught with many serious side effects.
  3. If the initial HbA1c > 9.0%, diabetes therapy should start with either a dual or triple approach. Triple therapy should include TZDs in addition to metformin plus GLP-1 agonist/DPP4 antagonist. In case of failure to reach the target of 6.5% then insulin therapy should be started.

  4.
DIABOHILLS is beneficial in each stage.
  • If your HbA1c < 6% but are considered as pre diabetic based on plasma blood glucose levels DIABOHILLS might protect you from developing full blown diabetes.
  • If your HbA1c < 7.5% your doctor might not have not prescribed any other medicines but would have advised only lifestyle modification like intense physical activity and diet control. In most cases this alone might not be sufficient. In this stage DIABOHILLS will help restore your HbA1c levels to around 6%
  • If your HbA1c >7.5% your doctor would have normally prescribed Metformin (Glucophage).  Metformin suppresses glucose production by the liver (gluconeogenesis). DIABOHILLS will help further and eventually your doctor might take you off from Metformin on seeing the progress.
  • If your HbA1c levels are between 7.6 and 9.0%, your doctor might have prescribed you insulin sensitizer drugs Thiazolidinedione apart from Metformin. He might have also prescribed GLP-1 agonists like Exenatide which increase insulin secretion by the pancreas. Thiazolidinedione are fraught with serious side effects. Avandia was a popular Thiazolidinedione group of insulin sensitizer till 2011  but after many years of use most countries have banned this drug as it was known to cause increased risk of hear attacks. Another type of Thiazolidinedione drug Actos was a best selling diabetes drug worldwide but it too was withdrawn from most countries after it was found to increase the risk of bladder cancers. Most insulin sensitizer drugs have serious side effects and many which are popular now might be banned in future for having caused serious side effects. In this stage of diabetes DIABOHILLS will wean you away from Thiazolidinedione group of insulin sensitizer drugs. You might still be needing only Metformin and DIABOHILLS. Metformin is considered a safe drug and has been used without any issues in the market since 1920.
  • If your initial HbA1c > 9.0%, your doctor will have a dual or triple approach. Triple therapy will include Thiazolidinedione in addition to metformin and insulin therapy. At this stage when insulin therapy is started DIABOHILLS will have limited use. You can still take DIABOHILLS as an adjuvant therapy but we have seen that once a diabetic patient is put on insulin DIABOHILLS will have lesser benefit.

5. Why is DIABOHILLS taken 30 minutes before major meals?
Immediately after taking meals there is a surge in the blood sugar levels. Even if you are taking prescription medicines for diabetes this temporarily surge in sugar levels cannot be controlled by these medicines. When you take DAIABOHILSL 30 minutes before major meals you will be preparing your body for the instant surge in sugar levels that will happen after food intake. It will act like a protective shield. DIABOHILLS when taken 30 minutes before the meals will stimulate the pancreas to secrete more insulin and some of the herbs like Circum Longa and Momordica Charantia will absorb the excess sugar like a blotting paper. Scientists have shown that this temporary surge in sugar levels after meals causes significant damage to vital organs. Moreover certain herbs in DIABOHILLS like Gymnema sylvestre will curtail the craving for sugar and carbohydrates drastically if taken before meals. You will be automatically consuming less carbs.

6. I am diagnosed with Type I - insulin dependent diabetes will DIABOHILLS help me?
NO. In type I diabetes pancreas produces little or no insulin. DIABOHILLS will not help in Type I diabetes.
